George J. Travis, Jr

I believe my brother George was with you guys
from 1966-67.   He initially arrived at Lane as part of the 174th AHC, then I think there was a personnel exchange so that companies wouldn't lose everyone at once when their tours were up, or something like that. George was then assigned to the 161st shortly after arrival at Lane in April, 1966. He flew Pelicans. He was a 1964 grad of VMI, and a mechanical engineering major. He arrived home safe in June of 1967, was soon discharged and went to work for my dad in his heating and air conditioning business in Syracuse, NY. He was married with two small boys. He was killed in a one car crash a few days before Thanksgiving, 1967. He was 25 years old.
